SCNA Board Meeting: 1/10/23 Updated: 1/15/23

President/VP Report: Dennis/Gabe

  • Traffic: Gabe attended 12/18 Traffic meeting. Follow-up needed as playground crossing solution; stop sign at Andrews St/WSE needed & long-term solution of rerouting 1A@ Winter to Bridge/Ext were not discussed on 12/18.
  • Salem 400: Meeting on Jan 18 th . Dennis to attend.
  • Annual Meeting: Online @ 3/16. Speaker: Councilor CWF. BM elections – Gabe.
  • Website Updates: Gabe working with Milo on bylaws, officers & BM recaps.
  • Board Updates: Board vote approved Milo as new Recording Secretary.
  • NIAC: On 1/11, the group thanked Dominick for all he has done & welcomed his replacement Chris Sicuranza & Mayor McCarthy. SCNA supports NIAC continuing,

Common & Neighborhood Enhancements: Jenn

  • Little Library: Kristen Fitzgerald gained Park & Rec approval as well as SHC approval pending paint selection. SCNA paying ($700) – DPS ready to install.
  • Bandstand: Phase 2 (restore dome; add flowerbeds) exploring w/Mike C
  • Fence: Working with Patti K & Mike C on next steps
  • Future: Explore possible adult recreational/fitness installation on Common

Events: Milo & Group

  • Holiday Concert/Bake Sale: Great success – our best attended
  • Winter Brunch @ Hawthorne: Feb 12 th at 11. Senator Lovely being honored. Speaker Mike C on Signature Parks.
  • SCNA change in event 2023 structure – volunteers welcomed

Washington Arch Initiative: Gabe

  • City: Mike C has resolved grant & working w/Skylight on contract
  • Skylight Studios: Mike C & PEM are working directly with artist
  • Carvings: Replicas of McIntire originals (Washington Oval & Eagle) are being created along with swag replicas from era ($25K grant)
  •  First drafts of Washington Oval & Swags look excellent
  • Painting of Arch & Eagle: SCNA to pay costs ($8K)
  • Explanatory Sign Update: SCNA to pay costs ($500)
  • Completed Arch: Vets & SCNA unveil at Muster 4/8/23
