Board Meeting

7:30: Welcome Board Members and Q&A with Caroline Watson-Felt Ward 2 City Councillor

  • Chief Miller may shut down common streets on Halloween night at SPD discretion for public safety.
  • orange string lights timing is in discussion. They are on all night and looking into shutting them off earlier
  • amplification on the common: P&R commission needs to tighten up application process and improve transparency when it comes to applicants.
  • no big updates on traffic improvements around common
  • escalating camper van parking problems to CIU with SPD
  • concerns over the surface of the common, particularly around the foodcourt. There isn’t a clear owner for the Common so solution is not in the works officially
  • Too early to tell how well the new parking permitting system is working. City Council has ordered specific updates from Traffic Dept and SPD for upcoming meeting
  • Paving around the common and redoing the dust path are on CWF radar now. Aggregate Industries may now be new company HOLCIM

Old Business:

  • Yard Sale: not great turnout of vendors. Load in was ok with vehicles, vendors couldn’t get cars back to pack up after. Shift date away from September and engage more community/neighborhood groups. Circle back with John for donation
  • Fun Fest:  made $130 for 4 hours on sat. Jane will get supplies to milo for sat am. Will see if we scratch Sunday.

Common Issues: Jennifer and Jenn – skipped – most covered with CWF

SCNA Events: Milo (Acting Lead)

  • Holiday Decorating- 12/1 – Thank you to Anthony ODonnell and Witch Museum. Tree is arriving on 11/27, 9AM. Wreaths/garland to be delivered to 1 Forrester. Include in Newsletter. 
  • Holiday Concert December 15th, 3PM – need to confirm date with Bridge @ 211. Flyers needed – milo will send 1/2 page ad to CiS. set up FB event
  • 12/31 New Years Common Neighbor Meetup – milo to name FB event.

Treasury Report: Jane

  • Current Account Status

Membership Report: no changes

Other Board Member updates

  • Jen H: November Newsletter to promote Holiday Decorating, Concert, Christmas in Salem Volunteering. Add ‘look back’ letter. 

New Business: Micah

  • Ads for Salem Band and CiS Guidebook-anyone want to volunteer?

Looking Ahead:

  • No December Meeting – will happen on 12/15 after the holiday concert
  • Winter Goals: work on membership (possible new chair) and a community board?
  • February Brunch – Feb 9 – last year reserved for 40, 52 arrived
  • Movie Night Witch Museum in Feb
  • April Muster – be on the look starting in Jan/Feb for details
  • storage solution for SCNA – thinking about options
