Old Business:
- Block Party: turnout less than last year. get the word out, flyers and bulletin board? setup and teardown was very good.
- Movie Nights: Picking hot movies boosts attendance. Maybe pick more newish movies going forward? Request Thursday rainday next year as a trial

- Tree Trimming by the benches near the playground, will need to see click fix them
- Spots to be fixed on playground in the spring, also see click fix

- Vintage Lawn Party-To Dos/Signup
- Will hire task rabbits to move and set up the dance floor
- signup.com will go out soon. Need more board members to staff the SCNA table
- Mayor’s Night Out Event Planning
- Potentially play a movie, lets check the certificate to see if we’re all set with amplified sound
- October Fun Fest-All requested info/documentation sent to Jeremy. Confirm with Jeremy we’re set. Check in with EJ about helping in some way. Keep relationship fresh.

- Community Board- Going to histcomm on 9/2. Will get on agenda for PR Commission for Sept. Milo will reach out to Trish, Ray, Katie about location/install again.

- News from this AM, ongoing investigation for person found in Salem Harbor this am.
- Broad Strokes HH 2026
- Will be using a schedule for road closures this year instead of traffic/ped driven closures
- Will utilize State troopers wherever possible. 60-95 SPD officers, with up to 120 overnight (called in from neighboring towns)
- Will borrow 1K barriers from Boston for HH parade, will leave gaps between barriers for easier ped movement
- design phase for Ped Mall to be protected with an on demand mechanical barrier.
- Other area of concern is the Salem Common. Bollards potential option. Should see more announcements about the ped mall within the next year
- Missing bollards at WSW entrance. Will not replace until design for common fortification is set.
- Waterfront planning RE: street closings? Potentially copy in visitors guide about the bounds of Salem festivities, With rowdy guests, SPD non emergency is best option.
- Times for events on Common approved and permitted by P&R commission. Should always call SPD if there is a problem
- CIU – not uncommon to see unhoused on common, how can we as residents provide help/assistance. CIU officers do frequent the common. If someone is in distress or breaking law (drinking) call the SPD.
- CFP is now a place for unhoused to camp as well, be understanding, call if witnessing criminal activity
- Regarding items chained to the common fence, reach out directly to SPD/CIU instead of SCF.
- Closure of temp shelter is leaving the community a bit vulnerable. For items that are left unattended. Property should go with them but that is almost never the case.
- Problems getting to MPG during HH road closures for monthly parking members. Perhaps set route for access to MPG.
- Better communication for parking enforcement of lower Hawthorne Blvd for residents
- My Salem App is the best place for up to date information on road closures.
- CoS is getting better road barriers that will block most of the street, making it harder for cars to force their way around them
- Brown/WSW intersection is in test phase now, will likely be as is through October 2026
- Tour Bus routes in the city, perhaps work on making streets prohibited from busses, designate dropoffs? Hard to get enforcement when they leave so quickly.
- City will be utilizing satellite parking again. Hoping for shuttles this year
- Golf carts should have license. They should not park in resident only parking. Likely rented out of a new Salem business
- High Speed ebikes. ongoing problem, bikes wont stop and officers on strict orders not to persue. Is a problem for all jurisdictions with ped heavy area. Ped Mall is /supposed/ to be bike free.
- Sat Halloween likely will be particularly heavy. End of Night was more chaotic last year. No Drone show provided no “END” of the night. Can no longer launch fireworks from North River.
- Street Preachers largely protected by 1st Amendment. There is an amplification ban in certain parts of downtown but many are savvy enough to work around them.
- Street Performers wielding /fake/ weapons. Need to look fake. If weapon looks too real call SPD
