Old Business:

  • Approval Process for Community Message Board: Milo taking the lead, no new updates. 
  • Website Updates: Jason is hard at work on the website update. Micah and Milo are assisting with layout suggestions. More to come in the next month!

Board/Chair Reports 

Common Issues: Jennifer MacGregor

  • Motorbike riders at night on basketball court. Will message SPD about off hours calline
  • How to address crayon graffiti on playground, contact DPW for guidance on removal
  • Anthill situation, less ants
  • Hole situation, still there, DPW has no plans to address
  • Grass seeding and spots that need it, likely need soil treatment and aerating for better coverage
  • Will offer $1000 to DPW to patch playground surface
  • uptick in dog waste on the common. Will contact the Animal Control Officer to have more signs put out.

Treasury Report: Jen

Membership Report: Ryan Guilmartin

  • Working with Adele on a Mailer design. Hope to get those out in the next few weeks.

Communication Report: Jordan

  • June Newsletter
    • Share about Summer Events again, and the movie night selections, Open VP Position with thank you to Gabe
  • New Instagram Page: no update

SCNA Events: Jordan Santiago 

  • Yoga on the Common: In communication with Kate Dube Yoga to have an SCNA sponsored yoga session that would be free with membership. Micah will pick dates and work with Kate to get it approved.
  • Planning for 7/4 Declaration Reading: 
  • Speaker confirmed: Ward 2 City Councillor Caroline Watson-Felt. Mayor will be invited to attend but not required to speak.
      • Readers: Jonathan Streff and Diana Dunlap confirmed
      • Music: WitchPitch not available, may get a duo instead
      • Handout: Micah will make the handout once music is confirmed. Will work with Adele on creating an “events” handout as well, this will likely look like the mailers we are preparing.
      • Setup: Will Need Milo’s podium, speaker system/microphone. Event starts at 9am, we should set up around 8/8:15. Approval from the city is forthcoming
      • Dennis to coordinate with Hawthorne/Michael Harrington?
  • Neighborhood Yard Sale 6/21 9am-12pm
      • Will collect $25 fee via Venmo
      • Signup handled via google forms likely
      • City Approval likely, will touch base with Joe again.
  • Summer Movie Series 7/30, 8/6, 8/13, 8/20 (rain date?) @ Sundown
      • Movie Lineup: Space Jam, Toy Story, Across the Spiderverse, Jurassic Park
      • Popcorn and Candy-Purchase candy from BJs and Popcorn from Hobbs or Movie Theater. Last year we ran out of popcorn at a couple of the movies so we need to make sure we have enough! Popcorn sells better than candy.
  • Neighborhood Block Party 8/10 5-8pm
    • Need city approval to block the street on WSE from Forrester to Boardman, will work with Jane
    • Micah will create a canva flyer to share. Will need to be posted physically and shared online.
    • Will decide on theme at next meeting.

New Business: Micah

  • NIAC Meeting Notes:
    • Jeremy Fiske spoke about his role within the city. He has helped set up the “Events Page” on the city website under the Mayor’s Office. Currently working on a Tour Bus Ordinance, concerned with Common Maintenance, the fence and safety.
    • HDSNA will be hosting “Derby Days” June 22nd-Retail and Restaurant discounts
    • DNA-concerns around Charlotte Forten Park and the unhoused camping behind the barricade where they are installing a sun shade. Some have been physically accosted.
    • Barnes/Clark/Wyman-having elections and planning their block party
    • Federal St.-new officers recently elected, paid for inoculation of Ash Trees on Federal St, awared 3 scholarships to students from the High School Carpentry program, hosting their Summer Soiree in June or July
    • Willows-Hosting their “horribles parade” July 4, and a block party at the beach in August. Slow progress on rebuilding the sea wall. Donated a big screen TV to the WI Function Hall
