SCNA March 2023 Board Update: 3/18/23

President/VP Report: Dennis/Gabe

  • Annual Meeting: Online @ 3/16. Our thanks to Councilor CWF. Board elected. Significant past year accomplishments reviewed – thanks all.
  • Traffic: Working with Councilor CWF. Painting to be enhanced at Playground/Forrester crossing. Permanent speed bump at Good Night Fatty’s.
  • Color of new resident parking signs hard to read – Councilor CWF to follow up.
  • Under consideration: stop sign at Andrews St/WSE & long-term solution of rerouting 1A@ Winter to Bridge St/Extension.
  • Website Updates: Gabe & Milo working on updates including Arch text/images.
  • NIAC: Gabe attended March meeting & shared SCNA input.

  • Incurred Expenses $7,701: Arch Carvings ($7500), Software ($101), Brunch ($50), Traffic Island Beautification ($50)
  • Anticipated $6,300: Arch Completion ($2K), Membership Mailer ($1K), Website ($1.2K), Lawn Party ($2.1K)

  • Next NL: Focus on Annual Meeting & upcoming events.

Common & Neighborhood Enhancements: Jenn

  • Little Library: Kristen Fitzgerald gained Park & Rec approval as well as SHC approval on paint selection. SCNA paying ($857). DPS to install in spring.
  • Lawn: Working with Park & Rec/DPS on refresh as well as new protections.
  • Bandstand: Phase 2 (restore dome; add flowerbeds) exploring w/Mike C
  • Fence: Working with Patti K & Mike C on short and long term solutions
  • Future: Explore possible adult recreational/fitness installation on Common

Events: Acting Lead Milo & Group

  • Annual Meeting on 3/16 went well. Info on SCNA FB page.
  • Movie night in April Location & film TBD
  • Neighborhood Toast Event: Exploring intriguing idea from Micah
  • Change in events: Thanks Milo. New lead & volunteers needed.

Washington Arch Initiative: Gabe

  • Completed Arch: Arch dedication to be part of Annual Muster 4/22/23 on Common thanks to Vets & MA National Guard
  • Arch dedication to be led by Lt Gov Driscoll
  • Remaining items:
    •  Skylight Studios carving work nearing completion.
    •  City reviewing Skylight work & scheduling installation.
    •  SCNA waiting receipt of updated explanatory sign panel.
